According to Wikipedia: Foodie is an informal term for a particular class of aficionado of food and drink. The word was coined in 1981 by Paul Levy and Ann Barr, who used it in the title of their 1984 book The Official Foodie Handbook.

Foodies differ from gourmets in that gourmets are epicures of refined taste, whereas foodies are amateurs who simply love food for consumption, study, preparation, and news.[1] Gourmets simply want to eat the best food, whereas foodies want to learn everything about food, both the best and the ordinary, and about the science, industry, and personalities surrounding food.[2]

We’re not an experts on the science, industry, or cooking, but love food news, food shopping, flavor experimentation, and healthy consumption. OK, my wife Deana is quite the expert in cooking. We don’t eat out a lot because we prefer do spend time together in our own kitchen. So this blog isn’t about trying a bunch of restaurants, but more about the love of all things food in our home, created in our own kitchen and sharing with our friends and family. Oh, and we have gained a lot of knowledge about eating more healthy with less carbs, sugars and fats. We’re getting pretty good at that.

There are so many foodies, so we want to share our epicurean delights and experiences with other foodies, or wanna be foodies.  We’re going to make up words here and there, because our experience with food has proven that some things are just indescribable. The real deal is that we like to share our culinary passion with friends and family. We’ll do afternoons or evenings and share our foodieism with others. The delight and love of foods is for everyone.

We’re particularly fond of cheeses and sausages. We dive into meats, olives, cured meats and pork. We like oils, trying different crackers, spices, and an occasional caviar. We always have a ton of stuff in our fridges and freezers. From Indian to Mediterranean, Japanese, Chinese, German and European cuisine, we take gastroadventures and are so thankful that we get to try so many wonderful flavors.

We try different recipes, and experiment to make them even better.

We are students of food, with a passion for learning and experimenting. In our spare time, we’ll go on food shopping trips and spend a good part of a day at that.

Marty especially loves the wonderful beers made right here in Colorado, around the US and the world. Some people are wine experts, but he’s becoming more of a beer connoisseur. A visit to Daveco off I-25 and S.R. 7 in Thornton is a wonderful thing. So many beers its amazing.
